After the key is correctly accepted, run the online activation:

cscript ospp.vbs /act

If the activation is successful, the system will return a confirmation message. This is the basic and most reliable method of activating Excel 2024 in a Windows environment.

Telephone activation

slmgr.vbs /xpr
slmgr.vbs /dlv

The slmgr.vbs /ipk and slmgr.vbs /ato commands concern the activation of Windows or Windows Server, not the Office package. In Excel 2024, you should use ospp.vbs /inpkey and ospp.vbs /act.

Troubleshooting Activation Issues

Below are common, real activation errors that may occur with Excel 2024 or Office suite:

Most often indicates that the product key is invalid, incorrectly entered, or does not match this edition of Office. Check if the key is for the exact version 2024 and the correct licensing channel.

Error 0xC004C060

Usually indicates that the key has been blocked or invalidated. This happens with keys from uncertain sources, used too many times, or revoked by the manufacturer.

Error 0xC004FC03

Most often the problem is related to network connection or system firewall. It's worth checking the Internet, temporarily disabling traffic filtering, and retrying:

cscript ospp.vbs /act

Error 0x80072F8F

This code often relates to incorrect date, time, or system certificates. Set the correct date and time zone, synchronise the system clock, and try again.

Error 0xC004E016

Usually means a licensing channel mismatch with the installed product version. For example, a key for a different Office edition than the one currently in the system.

Error 0xC004F074

Often appears in KMS collective environments when the computer cannot contact the organisation's activation server. In such a case, verification of the licence type and Office package source is needed.

What to Do When the Key Does Not Work

If Excel 2024 does not accept the key:

1. Check for typos and ensure you're entering all 25 characters.
2. Ensure the key is for Microsoft Excel / Office 2024, not an older version.
3. Remove conflicting remnants of previous Office versions.

Reactivation After Hardware Change

After replacing the motherboard, disk, or making significant configuration changes, Excel 2024 may consider the computer a new device. Then, the previous activation may no longer be valid.

In such a situation:

1. Try reactivating online:

   cscript ospp.vbs /act
   

2. If that doesn't work, enter the key again:

   cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
   cscript ospp.vbs /act
   

3. When the server rejects activation, use the phone path by calling 00 800 121 1654.
