Before You Start

Prepare:

  • A 25-character McAfee activation code, if it was included with the purchase.
  • An email address to create or log in to your McAfee account.
  • A stable internet connection.
  • Administrator privileges in the Windows system.

It allows you to confirm if the McAfee product is visible as installed in the system.

If after entering the code the application still shows no subscription, perform the following steps:

netsh advfirewall show allprofiles

The last command does not activate McAfee, but allows you to check the overall state of the firewall in the system after installation and exclude configuration conflicts.

Most Common Errors and Solutions

1. The Activation Code is Incorrect

Causes:

  • typo,

  • the code applies to a different region or product version.

Solution: re-enter the code, preferably by copying it without spaces from the beginning and end.

2. The Code has Already been Used

  • damaged installer.

Solution: uninstall other protection programs, download a fresh installer from the McAfee account, and run it as an administrator.

6. The Program Works, but the License Shows an Incorrect End Date

Causes:

  • activation started earlier,
  • the subscription renewed an earlier service instead of adding 12 full months from today.

Solution: compare the purchase date with the activation date in the account and report the discrepancy to support.

Important Note

McAfee Total Protection does not activate through slmgr.vbs, ospp.vbs, or other Microsoft licensing tools. These are intended for Windows and the Office package. For antivirus software, the correct path is the manufacturer's account, the McAfee application, and the manufacturer's technical support.
