How to install Microsoft Office 2024 Standard — a complete guide

Before You Start

What Does Office 2024 Standard Include?

Office 2024 Standard (LTSC) is a one-time purchase of the office suite without a subscription. It includes 5 applications:

What's NOT Included in Standard?

• Access (databases) — available only in Professional Plus edition
• Publisher — discontinued from all Office 2024 editions. Microsoft will end Publisher support in October 2026.
• Teams — not pre-installed in Office 2024. It can be downloaded separately for free.

System Requirements

Note: Office 2024 Standard is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. 64-bit is recommended for computers with 4 GB RAM or more. KluczeSoft provides the 64-bit version.

Support and Lifecycle

• Start of Support: 18 September 2024
• End of Support: 9 October 2029
• License Type: Lifetime (one-time purchase, no subscription)
• Policy: Fixed lifecycle policy — 5 years of mainstream support, no extended support

Step 1: Uninstall the Previous Version of Office

If you have Office 2019, 2021, or Microsoft 365 installed, uninstall it before installing Office 2024. Having two versions of the suite on one computer causes conflicts.

Method A: Through Windows Settings

1. Open Settings (Win + I) → Apps → Installed Apps
2. Search for "Microsoft Office" or "Microsoft 365"
3. Click ⋯ (three dots) → Uninstall
4. Follow the wizard
5. Restart your computer after completion

Method B: Using the SaRA Tool (when the standard method doesn't work)

1. Go to aka.ms/SaRA-officeUninstall
2. Download and run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant tool
3. Select the Office version to remove
4. The tool will completely clean up the remnants of the old Office

Tip: Before uninstalling, save and close all open documents. Your files (Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc.) will not be deleted — only the program is being uninstalled.

Step 2: Download and Mount the ISO File

Downloading

1. Open the order confirmation email from KluczeSoft
2. Click the link to download the ISO file — approximately 3–4 GB in size
3. Wait for the download to complete

Mounting the ISO Image

Windows 10 and 11 support ISO files natively — you don't need any additional software.

1. Find the downloaded .iso file in File Explorer
2. Right-click → Mount (or double-click)
3. Windows will assign a drive letter to the file (e.g., D: or E:) and open it like a DVD

Alternative: If the "Mount" option doesn't appear in the menu, right-click → Open with → Windows Explorer.

Step 3: Run the Installation

1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the virtual drive
2. Find the Setup.cmd (or Setup.exe) file and double-click it
3. If the User Account Control (UAC) window appears — click Yes

Handling Windows Defender SmartScreen Warning

On the first run, a blue warning window may appear:

1. Click More info (small link at the bottom of the window)
2. The Run anyway button will appear — click it
3. The installation will start automatically

Installation time: 5–15 minutes depending on your disk speed. Do not close the installer window or shut down your computer.

Tip: If your antivirus software blocks the installation, temporarily disable it. After installation, enable it again.

Step 4: Activate Office with a Product Key

Method 1: Through the Application (Recommended)

1. Launch any application from the suite — e.g., Microsoft Word
2. Click File → Account (in the left panel)
3. Click Change Product Key
4. Enter the 25-character key from KluczeSoft (format: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX)
5. Click Activate
6. In the Account section, you will see: "Product activated"

Method 2: Through the Command Line (ospp.vbs)

Office uses its own activation tool — ospp.vbs (Office Software Protection Platform).

1. Open CMD as administrator
2. Go to the Office directory:

cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16"

For 32-bit version on 64-bit Windows: cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16"

1. Install the key:

cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

1. Activate online:

cscript ospp.vbs /act

1. Check the activation status:

cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

Method 3: Phone Activation

If online activation does not work (e.g., activation limit after hardware change):

1. In CMD as administrator, from the Office16 directory:

cscript ospp.vbs /dinstid

1. Save the displayed Installation ID
2. Call Microsoft Poland:

3. Provide the installation ID to the automated system or consultant
4. Receive a Confirmation ID
5. In CMD, enter:

cscript ospp.vbs /actcid:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

1. Office will be activated

Step 5: Dismount the ISO Image

1. Open File Explorer
2. In the This PC section, find the virtual DVD drive
3. Right-click → Eject

The ISO file remains on the disk — keep it as a backup in case you need to reinstall.

After Installation — First Steps

1. Check for Office Updates

1. Open any Office application → File → Account
2. Click Update Options → Update Now
3. Install all available updates

2. Configure Outlook (if you use email)

1. Launch Outlook
2. The wizard will ask for your email address — enter it
3. Outlook will automatically configure the connection (for Gmail, Outlook.com, Office 365)
4. For company mail servers, manual configuration may be required (IMAP/SMTP)

3. Set the Default Save Format

By default, Office 2024 saves in .docx, .xlsx, .pptx formats. If you need compatibility with older versions:

• File → Options → Save → change the default format

Office 2024 Standard vs Professional Plus

When to choose Pro Plus? Only if you need Microsoft Access to create and manage databases. For most users, Standard is fully sufficient.

Troubleshooting

"Activation limit exceeded" error (0xC004C008)

Cause: The key has been used on another device. Solution:

1. Use phone activation (Method 3 above)
2. If this doesn't help — write to [email protected], we will exchange the key for free

"Unlicensed Product" message

Cause: Activation failed or expired. Solution:

1. Check your internet connection
2. Open CMD as administrator and in the Office16 directory:

cscript ospp.vbs /act

1. If the error persists:

cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:XXXXX
cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
cscript ospp.vbs /act

Installation stopped / "Something went wrong"

1. Restart your computer
2. Temporarily disable antivirus
3. Dismount and remount the ISO file
4. Run Setup.cmd again
5. If it still doesn't work — use the SaRA tool to clean up the old Office remnants, and then try again

I cannot download the ISO file / the link doesn't work

Write to [email protected] — a new link will be generated within a few hours.

Office runs in 32-bit mode, but I want 64-bit

1. Uninstall the current version (Step 1)
2. Remount the ISO
3. During installation, choose the 64-bit option (or use the Setup64.cmd file if available)

Conflict with old Office

If you see errors after installing alongside an old Office:

1. Completely uninstall the old version using the SaRA tool
2. Restart your computer
3. Install Office 2024 from scratch

Can I install Office 2024 on two computers? No — the licence is for one device. To install on a second computer, you need a second key.

Does Office 2024 work offline? Yes. All applications work fully offline after activation. The internet is only required for activation and updates.

What's the difference between Office 2024 and Microsoft 365? Office 2024 is a one-time purchase (you pay once). Microsoft 365 is a subscription (you pay monthly/yearly). Office 2024 does not include 1 TB OneDrive or the latest AI features (Copilot), but it does not require ongoing payments.

Can I transfer Office 2024 to a new computer? Yes — uninstall on the old computer, install on the new one, and activate with the same key. If the activation limit appears, use phone activation.

Is Publisher available in Office 2024? No. Microsoft has withdrawn Publisher from all Office 2024 editions. Publisher will be completely discontinued in October 2026. Alternatives are Microsoft Designer (online) or Canva.

How long will I receive updates? Until 9 October 2029 (5 years from the release date). After this date, Office will still work, but it will not receive security updates.
