Microsoft Word 2024 — standalone application

Microsoft Word 2024 is a standalone licence for a text editor — without the rest of the Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). You buy it once, and use it for life.

When to buy Word separately?

• You only need a text editor, without spreadsheets and presentations
• You already have Excel/PowerPoint from another source (e.g. Microsoft 365 at work)
• You want to save money — Word alone is cheaper than a package

Step 1: Activate the key on your Microsoft account

Word 2024 (retail edition) requires a Microsoft account for activation:

1. Go to microsoft.com/setup (or setup.office.com)
2. Log in to your Microsoft account (or create a new one)
3. Enter the 25-character key from KluczeSoft
4. Next → Confirm
5. The licence is permanently linked to your account

Remember your login details! The licence is linked to your Microsoft account, not the key. When reinstalling, log in — the key is not needed again.

Step 2: Install Word

1. After activating the key, go to office.com
2. Log in with the same Microsoft account
3. Click Install applications → Microsoft 365 Apps
4. Run the downloaded installer file
5. Installation takes 5–15 minutes
6. After installation, run Word → log in with your Microsoft account

Note: The installer will only download Word (not other Office applications), because the licence is for a single application.

Step 3: After installation

1. Updates: Word → File → Account → Update options → Update now
2. Save format: Default is .docx. Change in File → Options → Save
3. OneDrive: Word 2024 (standalone) does not include OneDrive — files are saved locally. For cloud synchronisation, use free OneDrive (5 GB) or purchase M365.

Troubleshooting

"Key has already been used"

Check account.microsoft.com/services — if the licence is visible, log in to office.com and install. If you haven't activated — [email protected].

Word opens in read-only mode

Log in to Word: File → Account → Log in with your Microsoft account with an activated licence.

Installer downloads other Office applications

The Microsoft installer sometimes installs trial versions. Check File → Account — the Word 2024 licence should be visible. Trial versions can be uninstalled.
